South East European Mobility Management Scheme (SEE MMS)
Date du début: 31 mars 2009, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2011 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In SEE cities economic upturn means an increase in traffic flows, which, by virtue of the pre-existing structures and emergent conditions, quickly meet the limits of their potential for expansion. Alongside transport and freight, tourism is another growing important branch of the SEE economy. The constant increase in traffic flows inevitably leads to a simultaneous increase in the negative consequences of mobility. Inhabitants and transport users in the SEE cities experience these consequences in the form of a greater degree of immobility (congestion, accidents, etc.) and increased environmental impacts (exhaust emissions, noise, etc.). Immobility and reduced quality of life are limiting factors to economic growth and prevent social cohesion. So far, various isolated measures have attempted to combat these problems. Mobility management can provide the means to achieve a satisfactory level of multi-modality in the SEE cities and foster the promotion of alternative means of transport. The SEE MMS partnership consists of 6 partners from old member states, 3 from new member states and 3 IPA aiming to create a sustainable transport development strategy specifically for the SEE areas. SEE MMS will provide the local and regional decision makers with relevant experiences about best practices in creating and implementing tailor-made mobility management plans in order to efficiently implement sustainable, cost-effective, environmentally friendly and efficient measures. Mobility centers will be established to serve as the focal points within the developed MM Plans and the establishment of the MC network guarantees maintenance and sustainability . All Partners will participate in transnational events (trainings, workshops, conferences) to build up relevant capacities for future development. Finally the partnership will develop Policy recommendations for the application of MM Measures in SEE Cities and all main outputs will be available from the project's website.
