The project "Sound of Gender" is focused on promoting gender equality and social inclusion through intercultural learningThe project is about freedom of choice and respect for human rights. We create an opportunity for young people to have a look at their life and their culture, and to the limitations that gender roles create for their own development. With this project we hope to enable young people to create their own view about the topic and at the same time to respect the view of others through intercultural learning.In this project we were looking for partners from different areas from Europe in order to stimulate the intercultural learning. 7 partners from Bulgaria, Sweden, Turkey, Czech Replubic, Spain, Poland and The Netherlands joined eventually this project. For Olde Vechte this are all new partners, this is why we applied for advanced planning visit. In this project we want to give the participants the opportunity to have a look on gender issues in their own country and also in other countries. This we want to achieve during the 3 phases of our project. In the 1st phase we will ask participants to do a small research in their own country, focused on the facts about gender roles in their society. The 2nd phase will be an exchange. The exchange will take place between 30th June to 12th July 2009 in Ommen, The Netherlands. 42 young people will participate. During the exchange, participants will share these information among each other, so that they reach better overview about how the situation is in different countries of Europe. They can use the information from other counties as a mirror for their own culture and their own behavior. In the 3rd phase, we expect they go back to their own countries and with the experience and knowledge gained during the intercultural event, they will look again at their own society with wider view of what is possible. This will enable them to make free choices in their lives, not depending on any picture of gender roles. This 3rd phase of the project is a guided period where we look at the results of the previous two phases of the project.
