TERMINÉ
In areas marked by preconception, by not accepting and degradation of living conditions, work with art, and in particular with the music, can be a big step towards building self-esteem and simultaneously to the rescue awareness and social transformation power of the subjects involved. But, the music, itself carries costs that are not available to everyone. So why cannot we build our own instruments through trash?
With this exchange we want to encourage recycling, improvisation and creativity through art, creating musical instruments from waste materials. The objectives of this project are: to sensitize young people to the issue of social exclusion and discrimination; educate young people for the protection of the environment and sustainable development; to share good practices in each country; to explore and put into practice the concepts of recycling, reuse and reduction; to provide concrete tools for participants to create instruments by recycling and may use them in their local communities; develop artistic skills as a tool to facilitate intercultural interaction using a non-formal approach; to increase awareness of intercultural learning ; establish new bridges of cooperation for European projects.
This project will be held from 14 to 23 November 2014 in Fafe, Portugal and with the participation of 35 young people from 7 different countries will be selected taking into account the following criteria: passion for music (without the need to be professional this branch), taste for environmental projects and social inclusion and to be responsible citizens who are aware of these issues. Participants must also be capable of improvisation and creativity (essential to the realization of the activity).
The methodology used in this project will be the non-formal education, by encouraging the adoption of methodologies of active and collaborative teaching and learning, based on the participant, their performance and teamwork, promoting participation, we hope to foster the skills necessary to order technique but simultaneously soft skills, such as are teamwork, critical thinking, communication skills, leadership, autonomy, empathy, time management, strategic thinking, creativity, etc.
Participants will perceive the music as a means of social transformation, and can be used as a facilitator of inclusion of individuals in society, dispelling prejudices and stereotypes and fostering acceptance and cultural diversity.
Through workshops developed during this exchange, participants will have notions of recycling, reuse and waste reduction which will promote these practices in their countries of origin .
The social inclusion of disadvantaged groups to be crafted in various workshops, activities and the sharing of experiences, will be a tool they can use in their personal, social and professional life, which will influence the work of the organizations in which they are inserted . Organizations will be empowered through the work of the young participants to create projects in the area of social inclusion through the arts, in recycling, or to replicate this project in their countries of origin. This exchange will mainly as main focus, awareness of young people to combat discrimination and social exclusion, combating inequality of opportunity, protecting the environment, promoting acceptance of cultural diversity through music.
At the local community level, this project will have a major impact, as we will integrate various institutions working with disadvantaged groups in some of the activities. These institutions may understand music as an element of social transformation, including her in their daily routines. The instruments built during the project will be donated to these institutions and may be used in the promotion of activities in their day-by-day.
This is a project that can be replicated anywhere in the world, since music is universal. This project will have long-term influence on children and disadvantaged young people covered by it, serving as a form of training and orientation, behaviors and preventing risk situations.
