Sociale inclusie van de cursisten bevorderen door cultuur en taal creatief in hun leefwereld te integreren
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our project "Enhancing social inclusion of the learners by integrating culture and language in their daily life" is supported by the whole team because it has grown from meetings, consultations and workshops with the whole team. The needs sprung from our care for quality and our policy plan shows that our teachers, colleagues and management can be further professionalized and our learners can be guided more individually in their education. In 2013-2014 concrete initial steps were made: 2 colleagues participated in a study visit and they became the co-ordinators of our intitutions’s internationalization. One colleague went to an international seminar, ‘Interdisciplinary approach in teaching and learning to promote learners’ creativity and entrepreneurship skills’. Those learning experiences resulted in new contacts in our still rather limited network. We drafted a mission statement and action plan “internationalization” for our centre under the supervision of VOVCO.We came to the following definition of our project: 1. The international learning experience will help to implement cultures from other European countries in a vivid and creative way in our institute and in the social surroundings of our institute. 2. The international learning experience will help to develop materials and methods in which the learner (through his environment and context) stipulates more and more. The participants themselves submitted needs to be acquired in an international learning experience, within the limits of our mission.Participants KA1: 3 teachers and 2 directors. Teachers:- 2 teachers of Dutch as a Second Language: they would like to learn how to develop new teaching materials and methods to implement the new training profiles in the curriculum of Dutch as a Second Language. During their job shadowing in Sweden and Slovenia, they will observe how teachers in these countries use language and culture as a means to achieve social inclusion. - Our teacher of Spanish will participate in a conference in Barcelona. This conference is organized on a yearly basis for teachers of Spanish from various European and non-European countries. This could offer an interesting line of approach for our research into methodologies of integrating language and culture into processes of inclusion. Executive managers:These executive managers wish to invest purposively in coaching, leadership development and personnel management, improving quality assurance and profiling the organization. Each of them would like to attend one training course: ‘Education for tomorrow’ and ‘Meta Learning and Thinking Skills’. Why? By getting acquainted with new ways of teaching we will be able to meet future challenges such as demand-driven teaching, an individual approach to learners, the growing diversity of learners and the use of new technologies. We would like to learn how we can get colleagues to recognize the need for these innovation processes and how we can inspire them to continue to offer high-quality education in the future. A thorough follow-up: Two staff members have been given a mandate to co-ordinate the internationalization activities of the centre and will monitor the practical preparations, coaching and follow-up after the mobilities. After collecting our participants’ reports we’ll organize a number of activities to clarify all the results to the rest of our colleagues. We’ll focus both on the individual results regarding the professionalism of our teachers, and on challenges regarding implementation for the functioning of the whole school. As well as sharing experiences, via assignments in seminars and a pedagogical day of study, we’ll also look for a practical application of new professional insights in the concrete ISBO functioning. We’ll have attention for methodology and didactical approach, but also for the policy of the school in its widest sense. That way we’ll achieve some visible results of our project. Using a profound follow-up, we’ll also encourage more colleagues to participate in ISBO’s international projects. Results and impact: Participating staff will consider their own functioning and methodology on a more conscious level. Mutual learning and an enhanced educational concept arise. There’ll be a rise in the willingness to share professional insights with others. In close collaboration with the management, the departments and partners, we’ll look for innovative lesson materials, innovative methods and/or content concerning educational crafting, and social inclusiveness that can be developed. CVO ISBO reinforces its image and profiles itself as an institute that modernizes and that collaborates with European partners. The institute extends its international network and works hard for a future collaboration in a KA2 project and/or a new KA1 project, which might have an important impact on educational innovations and on qualitative enhancement of our staff.
