Social Inclusion, Education and Urban Policy for Young Children
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project Social inclusion, Education and Urban Policy for Young Children approaches and connects important questions from three different angles:- How do teachers and social educators/pedagogues deal with growing diversity (ethnic, cultural, economic, social, etc.) in the group of children they are working with? If the ambition is that most children are included/integrated and can play, learn and develop together - and if this ambition on a bigger scale can contribute to prevention of segregation and radicalization, how can the professionals meet these challenges? - Which competences are needed for professionals and organizations and how are the (future) professionals to be educated? How can higher end vocational educations contribute and how can on-the-job training in the field be organized?- How do local city governments, in cooperation with the partners in the field, organize local pedagogical infra structure which stimulates social inclusion and prevents segregation? How does a local government welcome and integrate new groups of children, like for instance refugee children - in child care institutions and schools? In this project Universities of applied sciences together with expert centers and city councils in Germany, Slovenia, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands are working together to develop education and training supporting social inclusive, inter-cultural competences and – in an urban perspective - combating discrimination and segregation. The cities involved in this project are all facing growth of population and the need for inclusive education. This includes providing the necessary conditions to support the development and education of young children in the cities and their families. The project is building on existing knowledge and practice and focuses on the necessary inter-professional and inter-sectional cooperation to create inclusive education in an urban environment, and the urban policy supporting this. The concept of inclusive education will be elaborated in theory and practice, described in competences and implemented in educational modules and training programs. In the project, eleven partners will work together, in each of the cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Gent and Ljubljana a network group is created of: city councils, educational institutes/research centres and child care organisations. The products of the project will be: a literature review; a competence profile on inclusion; a film about 'the inclusive pedagogue', a framework for an educational programme and a set of recommendations for policy makers in the cities. On a longer term this broad approach to the issues involved will create a solid ground and the possibility to implement new approaches to social inclusion.
