The partners have identified the needs of the beneficiaries, that are at the base of the project, through interviews and focus groups, which showed some problematic elements:
- ability to organize in autonomy the work; communicate effectively; availability for work mobility and passion for the profession;
- lack of knowledge of the labor market and of motivation towards school and work; difficulties towards traditional methods of teaching;
- inadequate knowledge of the professional profile of reference for the course they are attending; inability to define their own career plan; uncertainty and fear about the future; difficulty in focusing their talents; skills and potential;
At the same time, some positive elements of the youth condition were revealed:
- creativity, innovation and energy
- curiosity for innovative methodologies; desire of leadership and socialization
- need to express and to realize themselves; need to be accepted and appreciated
- desire to experiment and to get involved; need to be listened, guided and supported.
The purpose of the project is to improve the employability of students by achieving the following objectives: improved language, professional and transversal skills; improved sense of belonging to the European community and development of the key skills of citizenship; improved motivation towards work, self-esteem, awareness of their own skills and abilities; improved personal project work, confidence about their skills and professional future. The project also aims to meet the needs of local enterprises to recruit motivated, qualified and competent personnel, able to face the challenges of multiculturalism, innovation and change posed by the dynamics of globalization and internationalization.
The project involves 170 students from 16 to 18 years attending the third year of vocational education and training courses in the sending organizations in the training years 2014/2015 (100 students) - 2015 /2016 ( 70 students). The students, accompanied by 30 trainers, develop one month of mobility (160 hours of stage/internship) in enterprises of the following Countries: Germany, France, Spain, The Netherlands.
The participants have already developed two training years (2.112 hours) in the key and/or emerging sectors of the Alba-Bra-Asti area (industry, craft, agriculture, gastronomy, tourism) and will begin the third year of training, when they will carry out from 200 to 320 hours of stage. The sending organizations belong to the system of vocational education and training (IFP) of the Piedmont Region, applying the same organizational, management and credit certification procedures/processes. The partners have agreed to use the Participatory Approach and Project Cycle Management in the preparation and management of the project.
The set up of the training content of the participants’ mobility is structured by processes and methods shared among the partners in the Memorandum of Understanding and through an individualized process of Learning Units and Outcomes identification. The practical, logistic and guidance support offered before departure, during and after the mobility, in addition to the process of pedagogical, linguistic and cultural preparation, allows participants to achieve the maximum benefits from the project. At the end of the mobility, the participants will receive a Personnel Trainee Portfolio including the ECVET, national and European certifications. The skills developed by the participants during the mobility will be recognized by the partner institutions as part of their training.
The project will produce a long-term impact on personal and professional growth of students and trainers. Trainers will develop their skills about students’ coaching/tutoring, communication and ECVET, acquiring at the same time knowledge of different school education systems. The members of the consortium will develop international strategies and strengthen the connection between the EDU-VET system and the labor market.
The dissemination plan will reach 5.000 students and 600 trainers of the sending organizations; 7.500 students out of the lower secondary schools; 40.000 young people and students of the Piedmont Region, 50.000 enterprises and families; enterprises managers, officials and representatives of the regional VET system. At international level, the consortium will disseminate the achieved results in the ECVET, EREIVET and ERALL Networks and into the cooperation networks of each partner.
