Project “Školní stáže v zahraničí/School training placements abroad” is aimed at improving quality of vocational education of its participants, establishing contacts with partner organizations in England and last but not least at improving knowledge and skills of the English language. It was prepared for the students of Year 3 of Higher Professional School of Economics and for the pupils of Class 3 of Commercial High School. 20 students and pupils took part in the project. The traineeship, as already mentioned, helped not only enhance students´ professional and English skills but also develop their existing competences in the environment of international companies. Simultaneously they were able to compare the work and lifestyle in England and the Czech Republic. Obtained experience will be helpful in their future career. The main goals of this project were discovering economical reality in England, intercultural education, enhancement of language skills, improving ICT skills, learning to respect others, ability to work individually, flexibility and independent decision making. Other goal of the project was to develop international dimension of the education obtained at school by the means of a traineeship in partner companies in the UK and perception of the importance of lifelong education, which is caused by the rapidly transforming world. For description of each participant´s profile it is important to take in consideration economical competences. At Higher Professional School of Economics, English, Economics, Marketing, Management, Accountancy, ICT and Communication skills are compulsory subjects. Professional placement is part of the school curriculum in Years 2 and 3 and the planned traineeship abroad came out of it and was chosen to deepen professional and communicational skills of the students, it took place at the turn of February and March 2016 and was credited as their compulsory 3 Year placement. The curriculum of Commercial High School emphasizes the study of vocational economical subjects (Economics, Accountancy, Tourism), foreign languages (English, German, French and Russian) and ICT. Students take part in professional field trips and work in training companies. These competences of ŠVP and RVP educational programmes were deepened by the traineeship abroad and the results were recognised by a final report and an interview with a vocational committee. The traineeship of Class 3 pupils took place in May 2016. The essential activities of the traineeship of both flows took place in administration and retail mediated by the partner organisation called ADC College, Harrow. For both flows we took advantage of the European system ECVET, created two units of learning outcomes for new particular competences which the participants were to acquire during the training placement. The creation of the units of learning outcomes was based on our school curriculum and possibilities of companies offered by ADC College. The traineeship in administration included clerk work, receptionist work, processing of post and phone calls, creating and archiving documents. The traineeship in retail was focused on serving customers, checking and preparing products, recording of payments and pricing goods), both units of learning outcomes included adoption of soft skills (motivation, teamwork, independence and flexibility in a foreign environment). Acquired competences were assessed by supervisors in individual English companies, validated and recognised in our school. All participants received a Europass Mobility certificate and a certificate of participation from ADC College. The project was profitable for all the students and pupils as it helped them get experience and acquire new information. Obchodní akademie a VOŠE Tábor has verified the portability of skills and knowledge learned at school to international company environment, thanks to the ECVET units of learning outcomes it was easier to plan, follow and validate the traineeship results. The project team got new experience in managing projects which will come in handy in the future. ADC College and its partner companies got some further information on the needs, abilities and competences of the students and pupils and will use it in order to prepare future trainees. The participants gained new professional skills, self-confidence in communication in English, experienced the multicultural environment of London and a lot of them would like to study or work abroad or work in an international company. We think that the projects of foreign traineeships lead to easier employment on the job market and accentuate the importance of lifelong education in our rapidly transforming world.
