Skills Development in ERP Systems through workplacements

The proposed project aims to 25 students of the first EPAL of Metsovo, who specialize in the field of economy and administration. The students of the school are mostly children from low income families, whose families are active in the region. They also direct to technical vocational education due to their inability to cope with the demands of the general high school and because of their desire to ensure from EPAL a qualification, but also an important asset in order to enter the market labor directly. This project is directly related to the subject of their specialty, as it has to do with integrated management systems of enterprices. Those systems, rather than the solutions they offer in an enterprise, to be effective a proper training it is require of their users. The main objective of the program therefore is to familiarize students with the E.R.P., which is valuable to many businesses who have to handle an increasing volume of data in short time. We expect that participants, as they have a very good theoretical background in computer science and economics-management, will be provided a new, unique and very useful experience, that can be applicable in their workplace. The main purpose of our proposed project is the acquisition of work experience by placing participants in enterprises which apply modern ERP systems in their processes. The group of 20 participants will be divided before the start of the mobility period into four sub-groups of five people each. In each sub-group a responsible (mentor) will be set by the side of the host partner who will supervise and monitor the placement of the students on the companies and will be in daily contact with the companies and the host atner but also wth the accompanying persons of our school. For the needs of the proposed project and for the implementation ofthe work experience period, the hosting partnet (DOUMAG LTD) is responsible and is committed to indicate companies applying modern ERP systems in their processes. These companies are from different sectors of the economy. Each sub-group will realise the mobility period (placement) in all these companies that all sub-groups will go through all enterprises (cyclic process), process that will lead tp an acquisition of experience in different sectors and different business structure and activities. The period of placement of the participants has been set to two weeks (ten working days). We expect that the participants, as they have a very good theoretical background in computer science and in management, will ensure a new, unique and very useful experience, so that in the future it can be applied in their workplace.In a first phase, therefore we aim to enrich the experiences of students but beyond the narrow framework of the school environment. Their "engagement" with other partners, the European experience and practical training in something new for them is the prime target of this project. Also, it will lay the foundations for further future collaboration with educational organizations that provide training beyond the boundaries of the school. Undoubtedly it will ensure the dissemination of experiences and knowledge for those not selected to participate in the program. And this can be done not only for the students of the school, but generally for the local community where they live and operate many professionals, who will be able to "exploit" anything new that will boost their businesses.
