The project “Treasure regions” was created for the students of the School of Catering and Hotel Industry in Iwonicz-Zdroj. The name of the project reflects the nature of the tasks that await the participants: discovering and understanding the treasures, which are the regional products and attractions of the host countries, sharing the flavours and tastes of the national - Polish, and regional - Subcarpathian cuisine, finding the value in diversity of the cuisines and cultures, using the experience for the personal development, promotion and development of the school, region and country, and international cooperation.The main objective in relation to ZSGH students who mostly come from small towns of the Podkarpacie province with high unemployment rate and from the families facing material and social problems, is to provide them with opportunities to gain professional experience and education at an international level, which will increase their employment chances through the acquisition of new skills, including language and professional knowledge and experience, as well as affect the alignment of their life chances. In parallel, the project will improve the quality of vocational training in the school by comparing and using the experience of similar foreign institutions, inspiring the participating teachers to intensify innovative activities and share the experience gained.The authors of the project assume that employers will value the experience of the ZSGH students enriched with the internship abroad, as was the case with previous ZSGH graduates benefiting from EU programs. Knowledge of and ability to present the flavours of regional and national cuisines acquired during the internship and culinary courses and during organised European days, observation of work organization of foreign restaurants and hotels, comparing them with Polish workplaces, the use of good practices, will increase the value of graduates in the eyes of potential employers. Knowledge of regional and traditional products of Italy, Spain and Bulgaria, especially from the regions famous for their quality and quantity (Emilia-Romagna, Andalucía, Sofia), their use in the hospitality and tourism industry will also improve the competitiveness of graduates in the labour market. Also, knowledge of indigenous, traditional products of Podkarpacie region, appreciating their value, promoting them and using them in practice will be an advantage in promoting oneself in the labour market.Contact with the idea of EU projects, acquired experience can encourage students to run their own businesses, also in rural areas of Podkarpacie; the project can inspire them to make use of the region's attractions and products.Enabling students with intellectual disabilities to travel and study abroad will make them more independent and increase the confidence of the labour market in professional abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.Showing the opportunities and benefits of common policies and cooperation of individual entrepreneurs in a region - economic development, promotion, reduction of production costs, aligning and maintaining the quality, preservation of tradition, increase in the number of investors, buyers, tourists should encourage cooperation in the graduates’ place of residence.The organization of foreign companies will show new possibilities, enriching the experience of students and teachers, who will gain new practical skills, compare work methods in the country and abroad learning to use the best ones.The selection of experienced partner organizations: Italian YouNet, Spanish Tribeca Training LabS.L. and Bulgarian ETN Bulgaria Gateway Ltd (the latter two are parts of the Italian ETN Network company) situated in regions famous for the gastronomy and tourism, allows to focus training on national and regional cuisines respected in the industry – a graduate who could confirm skills in this area increases their chances of employment. Bulgarian cuisine and culture are less-known – practical ability of their presentation will be another asset in the students’ CV. Understanding and promoting traditional products will increase respect for tradition, preservation of cultural heritage and sharing it with others.Presentations, exhibitions, publications and direct meetings with target groups will help to disseminate the project results. Dissemination activities will influence the raise of awareness in the society about the benefits of the participation in EU projects, encourage others to create their own projects, provide information and practical examples, disseminate knowledge about partner countries.There are 4 groups to be sent abroad, two to Italy, one to Spain, one to Bulgaria, each composed of 16 students and 2 teachers. Each internship will last 4 weeks. 72 people are to take direct part in the project. Presentation of the project, its objectives and the results will reach directly about 800 and indirectly many more people.
