PROJET
TERMINÉ
While preparing our European Development Plan it has been aimed that 10 people in total (8 branch teachers and 2 administrators) will attend to the project presented by Sinop Ayancık Religious Vocational High School. The project aims at carrying out three different educational activities in two different countries. The topics are ‘methods and techniques to enhance motivation in classroom’, ‘supporting student self-esteem and self-concept processes’, and ‘career choice and educational guidance’.In methods and techniques to enhance motivation in classroom, student motivation is given particular importance. The aim here is to raise lesson and school attendance by motivating students. We can review attendance under six main titles, which are attendance, academic attendance, behavioural attendance, psychological attendance, the characteristics of students who attend to lessons and the characteristics of students who do not have motivation to attend to lessons. The students who do not have motivation get bored of lessons, get distracted easily, skip school and cannot perform school activities in real life. Therefore, related trainings will help teachers learn how to enhance student motivation in classroom. In supporting student self-esteem and self-concept processes, it is important to enable students’ self-actualization by motivating them through listening, family support, and parent-teacher cooperation. Teachers and parents should support students in areas that students are interested in, whether art or a sport activity. With the help of the support by people around, it is ensured that students feel themselves good and be at peace with other people. As students spend most of their time at school, teachers play the key role in this regard. A teacher who listens to students, answers their questions without judging, and regards each one of them as an individual can raise respectable individuals. In this sense, this project will help teachers learn how to manage students’ self-esteem and self-concept processes. In career choice and educational guidance, it is the best to help students make their choices depending on their characteristics and competencies. Students who have realized themselves thanks to motivation and self-esteem can understand what they want. As they start to know themselves and analyze their own characteristics properly, they will achieve success in accordance with their interests and abilities. Getting students to make sure of their choices by performing some tests during high school years is an important step for their future. In this regard, this project focuses on such issues as the hesitance especially Religious Vocational High School graduates experience while choosing their major in college and the prevention of wrong choices. When compared to European countries, Turkey’s education system must be improved in terms of classroom motivation, supporting student self-esteem and providing appropriate guidance for students in university and career decisions. Teachers are supposed to improve themselves and enhance their knowledge by having trainings in relevant fields and to make students more intellectual and knowledgeable persons by paying attention to student psychology. Teachers should provide guidance for students in choosing the higher education institutions that is right for them by observing students closely throughout their school life, using evaluation and assessment methods and analyzing data with students and parents in this process. Through our project, our school personnel will be able to have training on three different topics for two weeks in two different countries. By this way, they will get to know about the systems practiced in Europe. With the knowledge and experience gained by trainings in Europe our school’s quality of education will enhance at international standards. This process will have a positive influence on all of the students in our school. It will prepare a substructure for Vocational Guidance and Counselling Centre, which we are planning to establish. In the short run our project will help our students to become individuals with high academic success and ability to choose the right higher education institution for them. The long term result of the project is to support one of the chief objectives of Erasmus Plus program, which is ‘to reduce early school leaving below %10’. In addition, because the students who have the right guidance on their education will be encouraged for higher education to get a profession, we will serve another objective of the program, which is ‘to increase attainment in tertiary education to at least 40%’.
