The municipality of Cantalupo in Sabina (Italy) is very careful and sensitive about the topics of social cohesion, intercultural dialogue, equal opportunities and social inclusion. That is why, since several years, it has been fostering and supporting the realization of youth initiatives, artistic and cultural events, activities which support the inclusion of the minorities in the community, sustaining disadvantaged families, actions inciting active participation through the support of the local voluntary associations network, recreational and educational services for all ages, in cooperation with local organizations and educational agencies. Cantalupo in Sabina is a little community of 1.750 inhabitants, where the municipality represents an engine catalysing and valorising energies in order to support not only fragile categories (elderly people, children, disabled) but to get a real public network of individuals and voluntary organisations, fighting against cultural and social isolation. After a positive experience of long hosting EVS with the project Singing with the wolf in 2014, other 4 volunteers, hosted in 2 different periods and involving each time one youngster from Portugal and the other from Germany, one from the south of and one from the north of Europe, possibly one male and the other female, will contribute to enrich this territory through their active participation in cultural and socio-educational services, provided by the little but very sensitive municipality. For 9 months each, learning and inspiring, taking and giving, in a continuous exchange, the volunteers will exercise their citizenship in a very fertile environment, investing their creativity in a rural area, where culture and solidarity are essential elements for the local society.
