TERMINÉ
The association “Mille Piedi” deals with the theme of environmental consciousness, seen as a tool to achieve active citizens in society.
The project "SinergicaMenti" is another part of this reflection.
Related to this topic the association has also carried out projects such as "Think Green" or "Nothing new" and in collaboration with other 5 local associations is still working on the project "Living the Paduli", developing and promoting the Park of Paduli (Province of Lecce). In this park, that “Mille Piedi” contributed to establish, we are implementing several activities such as "Lampa", the production of extra virgin organic olive from abandoned olive groves that we adopted within the Park.
The association is actively involved in the creation of the “Salento Seeds Bank”, a network of producers, consumers, organizations and institutions, able to preserve the biodiversity of the Salento area.
Within the garden of the local library managed by the association, we have already started a first experiment of synergic garden. Moreover, the association applied for a project called “(In)Nova Terra”, a training programme with the aim to train and discuss about innovative firms in agriculture.
Our new project “SinergicaMenti” was born from a global reflection on the themes of environmental sustainability, job policies and the value of sustainable tourism, which affects many stakeholders of our land.
The objectives of the project are to create opportunities for discussion and reflection on three topics identified as prior such as: the "relationship between rural development and urbanization," "Research and innovation", "entrepreneurship education" .
Permaculture is the term that best summarize these three points and we believe that it can represent an innovative way to develop the personal resourcefulness, needed to give a response to the crisis and be an effective way to carry on entrepreneurship education activities.
During the project will be carried out a series of activities:
1)workshop on setting up a permaculture garden,
2) focus groups on the topic of best practices in the countries involved in the project,
3)agriculture Km0 advantages and prospects, excursions to Roca and in the Park of Paduli,
4)meeting with the managers of the project Paduli and the owner of km0 organic farm production,
5) creative workshop to build a vertical garden in a indoor space to optimize the arable land and energy resources,
6)interviews and discussion with the local population,
7) participated workshop-ideas for an innovative start-up,
8) international dinners.
The project will be realized through the integration of different methodologies: Brainstorming, Metaplan, Problem Solving, through indirect techniques of "lateral thinking". Participants will be facilitated in identifying creative ideas, developing organizational skills of team building and networking, required to organize and lead an effective team work.
The follow up of the project will aim to create an international group able to work together in the topic of permaculture, but also being able to develop different themes concerning the environment in general.
The participants involved in the project will be 24 and they will come from 4 different European countries. The associations involved have been selected among a number of organizations who already work in this field. The participants themselves must demonstrate interest, and susceptibility to the themes that will be developed in the project, by sending a letter of motivation.
Specifically, we will try to involve categories of people with fewer opportunities:
- unemployed young people;
- people living in rural areas;
- people with disability;
The people with fewer opportunities involved in the project will be 18 out of 24. We also will guarantee equal gender number of young people and for everybody the age to partecipate in the project is from 18 to 25.
Role of the promoters (including hosting organization): the tasks of the promoters are to find motivated participants, select the participants, prepare the participants before leaving, collaborate with the other organizations involved in implementing the activities, contribute to improve the activities, help in solving possible problems that may occur during the exchange, give suggestions, have a cooperative attitude, find a team leader responsable for the group of young people of his/her country, being responsable of the dissemination of results in their own country, build up a follow up of the project and any other thing which is necessary to create and live a wounderful intercultural experience in Italy.
