SIGO ! is a small , dynamic secondary school nearby Brussels. We emphasise on the individual development of each student .
Our main goal is to give students the opportunity and tools to function optimally in the society of the future .
In our school , in which both ASO and BSO is offered , we work hard to prepare young people to continue their studies in higher education or to participate in a job immediately .
Our school is characterized by a large number of GOK pupils and not native speakers (the school language is Dutch, most pupils speak French at home or a different language).
We attach great importance to the participation of students and parents.
To form responsible and engaged global citizens, with respect for others and the environment and an open view of the world : that is what we stand for !
In order to make this happen , we are committed to a strong professionalisation of our whole team .
In chronological order, we wish to commit ourselves to the following activities ( year 2014-2015 )
1. Stage in Croatia by InGenious pilot teachers ( 2 ) in August. This internship is particularly STEM- oriented and aims to build networks , develop new teaching material , brings schools and businesses closer together for the purpose of internationalization .
2. Partnerships with two other Flemish schools ( KTA Brakel , GOGeel vzw) we already collaborate via the InGeniousproject : visitation , exchange of ideas , materials , build a network and support ( management and departmental representatives ) - expands to either STEM related subjects.
3. Participation of the entire team at the BETT conference London and attending workshops in London ( 22 to 25 January 2015) . The program will (subject to minor changes ) be as follow :
Day 1 : Arrival , meeting with the other teachers , networking with colleagues from other Flemish partner schools and preparing questions and needs .
Day 2 : ( in cooperation with our Flemish partner schools ) inter schoolteams are made. They discover BETT together and start looking ( with pre-defined tasks) for tools , good practices and information ; then discuss this and in a later fase convert it to useful material .
The third day is reserved for attending workshops and further gathering information and ideas . Through a presentation, insights and knowledge are linked back to all participants and also more broadly distributed ( eg KlasCement, eTwinning , Ingenious , ... ) .
Day 4 : Networking and leaving home.
( The program can be used if desired already terminated on day 3 , however, it is advisable to provide for networking and final consultation an extra day ) .
By participating in this event , we want to be aware of innovation in education , team awareness and inspire the team , develop useful content ( and distribute this) and create a broad basis for the future. Moreover, we aim to disseminate the knowledge gained within our own institution , but also outside ( national partner schools + other national and international institutions through our network ) .
4. Two members of the school going for shadow teaching in EPRM , Escola Profissional Rio Maior in Portugal , a school we came in to contact by the InGenious project and who has already gained experience around STEM and entrepreneurship. This is done in collaboration with KA Geel, coordinated by KTA Brakel . In turn, representatives of the Portuguese school come over to work on the development of projects, observing activating methods , other methodologies , handling and addressing learning and behavioral problems and competence-based education together.
At a later stage we would like also to participate in exchange programs for students through eTwinning . Besides further professionalization and job shadowing in national and international schools.
We are convinced that a professionalisation and internationalization of the team through participation in the event contributes to the realization of our priority objectives and results in a great deal of support for vision development, innovation and dissemination ( both students and other teachers internal and external ) .
To ensure the smooth realization, a cel " internationalization " will be established which is responsible for the logistics , networking , monitoring and coordination of the erasmus+ project.
With mobile learning , eTwinning and other platforms ( InGenious , Klascement, ... ) we provide the exchange of information and content .
