Sharing the Wor(l)d
Date du début: 1 mai 2015, Date de fin: 30 avr. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Literature, as a form of cultural creativity, is an essential human peculiarity and, as a written language, the foundation of aesthetic expression. At first, literature was transmitted orally; in its basis, it was performative. With the development of human communication skills some features of the transfer of cultural tradition were changed; and so, the reading became a solitude act. But with narration being written down, people were given a new opportunity - more precise, more analytical expression of accumulated experiences and cultural traditions. And so the literature as a reflection of the never-ending process of change adapted to the new era of rapid information and digital innovations. The inter-cultural interactions became much more intense as in the past. Three eminent literary manifestations are coming together to share the wor(l)d and bring the reading back to the readers and readers back to reading: Vilenica Festival from Slovenia, Festival of World Literature from Croatia and Cúirt Festival from Ireland. Within the project, various events and activities will be conceived to attract readers from all generations and profiles. Literary festivals contribute to the understanding of reading practices, embodied in actions, habits and localities, and their involvement in other social practices that co-identify them and contextually determinate them. Collective listening, socializing and sharing experiences are still the unique social dimension that should not be overlooked. Literary festivals are adapting to the changed world and making an afford of the nowadays technologies and their prospective uses as a tool to bring the wide reading European audiences through the social interactions at the festivals back to the individual reading experiences. In this way they illuminate the current topical issues with a retrospective view and, moreover, give the past phenomenon modern echoes.
