The project “Shakespeare au secours de Molière” is aimed at developing the linguistic abilities of teachers who teach non-linguistic subjects at the Robert Wlérick school. It is the first stage of the European development plan of the school.
The development plan of the school intends to carry on with and increase the opening of the school to Europe. We want to have a school in which the students are opened to Europe, and have the opportunity to travel in Europe (few of our students travel) and exchange with other European students. We also want to allow the students to do a part of their training sessions abroad, and get certificates recognized all through Europe. The opening of European classes is also part of our future project. Finally the school intends to perpetuate the European projects and increase the linguistic exchanges by way of e-twinning for example.
This opening requires multidisciplinary teacher teams well trained in languages and able to cope with all the needed contacts and exchanges with foreign partners.
The project “Shakespeare au secours de Molière” is thus aimed at allowing a group of six female teachers, teaching different non-linguistic subjects (French, sales, administration, medico-social sciences, communication and art-design )to improve their abilities using a foreign language, mainly English and for one of them Spanish. It is a matter of refreshing or improving their personal abilities but mainly of being immersed in the host country in order to improve their oral practice. This training will take place in educational schools specializing in linguistic teaching for adults, in Ireland and Spain. It is to be noted that these teachers have already worked or will soon work on European projects.
The teachers wish to be quickly able to communicate with their foreign partners. So, being able to communicate on their own with their partners, these non-linguistic teachers will be able to fully involve themselves while looking for training sessions for their students and operating European projects. They will motivate their students as far as linguistic matters are concerned and thus be examples for them.
Two of them want to obtain the DNL, sales and administration, in order to have the possibility of starting new European sections and widen what they offer their students. Four of them want to work on a strategic partnership with three European countries as soon as September 2015.
This project will in the beginning be profitable to six female teachers, on a voluntary basis, and motivated to work on European projects or with a European view. But its impacts in the long run are meant to improve what our school can offer, increase its influence and enhance its image. We wish to offer enriching and valuable possibilities to the students in order to finally help them for a better professional integration.
