Association of social volunteers „ODIN/VITA” is going to coordinate the 24 months long EVS project „Service learning 6” with 4 volunteers (2 from Germany and 2 – from Armenia) in Daugavpils. The project gives a chance for youth (also for youth with disadvantaged backgrounds and fewer opportunities compared to their peers) to take part in the international project where they can improve their personal and professional skills. That can enrich their chances on the labour market, open new door in their life and contribute to the cohesive society.There are involved 2 sending organizations: “ijgd e.V. Landesverein Sachsen-Anhalt” from Germany and “The Graduates Association of Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences” from Armenia. The volunteers will be hosted by the Daugavpils secondary school nr.17, youth club “Fortuna” and "ODIN/VITA".The project addresses three topics - “Teaching and learning of foreign languages” and “Creativity and culture” and is going to :: support learners in the acquisition of competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) with a view to improving their personal development and employability in the European labour market;:: enhance notably the participants' foreign languages competence;:: raise participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, to actively participate in society and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity.Using different working methods (games, sport and cultural activities, theatre, language clubs, exhibition, workshops, musical and cultural events, conducting of short movies, etc.) and in cooperation with local volunteers and workers EVS volunteers are going to elaborate with youth and kids about child injuries, healthy lifestyle, art and culture, civic participation, service learning, family budget and go green. The working languages will be mainly German, English, Latvian and Russian.In total the project will influence directly and indirectly: :: more than 50 teachers from Daugavpils:: more than 800 adults-parents of children who are informed about activities which are attended by their kids:: more than 600 youngsters in all 3 hosting organizations:: more than 20 international partners of project partnerorganization in total will be informed about the project flow and results.In the result of the EVS project “Service earning 6” 4 EVS volunteers will have: :: improved their learning performance; :: enhanced employability and improved career prospects; :: increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship; :: increased self-empowerment and self-esteem; :: improved foreign language (Latvian or/and Russian) and mother tongue competences; :: enhanced intercultural awareness and ability to work in the intercultural team and environment as well; :: more active participation in society; :: better awareness of the European project and the EU values; :: increased motivation for taking part in future (formal/non-formal) education or training after the mobility period abroad;:: experience in project writing, planning and implementing of the activities, group management, PR-work, work with kids, youngsters, seniors or disabled people;:: own experience of culture of Latvia, Latgale (Latgalian dances) and Daugavpils.
