Senior-guides: Elaborating and testing an innovative method of informal learning in later life
Date du début: 1 oct. 2009,
Based on experience gained within previous EU projects, the project "Senior-guides" aims at developing, implementing and disseminating a Curriculum for the training of older volunteers to realize guided tours for senior citizens and inform them about target group oriented offers provided in their living environment (e.g. participating- and lifelong learning opportunities, social services) . Hence, so called senior-guides act not only as consumers but also as multiplicands for older people. The senior-guides project addresses- older people providing senior-guides tours (=10-15 training participants in each partner region)- older people participating in the tours (= in each region 5-7 tours will be realized within the funding period)- organizations acting as hosts of the guided toursAs functioning partnerships are crucial for promoting sustainability, long-term impact on policies and community development, in each partner country (AT, DE, IT, LT, UK) training providers, seniors organizations and public authorities will form a partnership. Furthermore, Regional Networking Platforms will be established to involve service providers, representative of the target group, seniors & migrant organizations and policy makers in the whole process. Our dissemination and exploitation activities target at the implementation of the senior-guides concept in other regions and countries. Therefore, all partners agree on distributing key products, such as the Curriculum and Training Support Packs (both available paper-based and electronically in English, German, Italian, Lithuanian) via various channels at regional (e.g. platforms, media work), national (e.g. Transfer Workshops) and European level (e.g. contributions to conferences, direct mailings). To prove that "active citizenship" and "participation" do not remain buzzwords, the target group will be actively involved in the entire project (e.g. project meetings, Regional Networking Platforms, Transfer-Workshops).
