Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2014 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Youth Exchange “SelfWithOthers” will mainly focus on non-verbal communication. Music, theatre, dance and self-reflection, will be used to discover what’s inside each one of us and how can we use it in an artistic way in contact with others. The multilateral exchange will take place in Lisbon during 6 days (excluding travel days), between 12th and 19th of October 2014, with 4 youngsters plus their team leaders from 5 different nations: Portugal, Italy, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland for a total of 26 people (20 participants+5 leaders+1 accompanying person). By using the human body the participants will discover and share new rhythms and movements, by exploring cultural behaviors, customs, ideas and feelings, from different people from Europe. The participants will deepen their motivations and emotions, and by so increasing the wellbeing and empathy with other people, consequently improving interpersonal relations. This is a very strong way to break down the barriers of language and culture by emphasizing the importance of non-verbal communication. Therefore, the main objectives are to Foster mutual understanding between young people in different countries and to Promote active and European Citizenship through non-formal Education. Through several creative workshops such as theatre and dance, body rhythm and corporal expression, participants will be able to use their creativity and to discover and improve non-verbal communication skills and set up together a final performance. All the local community will be invited to attend, by joining the group in the busiest multicultural area in Lisbon – the Martim Moniz’s square. Particularly interesting and significant for the social inclusion will be the attendance of young people who are daily involved into national and migration patterns. The different social backgrounds and cultural contexts of every country will be shared and matched to show out diverse sensitivities and therefore breaking prejudice and stereotypes, by increasing mutual understanding.
