Self-government Co-operation in Bihar and Bihor regions (Joint Bihar)

In 2007 the two communities decided to co-operate and establish a twin town relationship. The idea of a joint project arose in 2008 when the local - external and internal - conditions of the two communities were outlined. Then the mayors of the two communities decided to elaborate a joint mid-term programme on the field of tourism, development of economy and environmental protection. Furthermore, the two towns made an agreement to revive local traditions and agreed on cultural and religious co-operation, the possibilities of the education of folk arts and the co-operation of NGOs. The professional background and financial resources for implementing the project are available. The general objective of the project is establishing twin-town relationship between the two communities, for increasing the cultural values of the border region, increasing the number of the cross-border traditional programmes, reducing the rate of unemployment, organizing joint programmes, developing the co-operation of NGOs of the two communities, working out a joint study on economic development.Target groups: residents, NGOs, entrepreneurs of the towns involved in the project, artisans, cultural and art groups, sports clubs, tourists, officials of micro-regions invited to the communities (mayors, representatives, managers), students (6 to 18 years old).The main specific activities of the project and results are: organizing the town festival; elaborating a joint developing conception / study and using it in the mid-term economic programme; publicity to the project (local and regional media: TV, radio, internet, press)
