Based on the Invitation for proposals for the Program of cross-border cooperation Bulgaria-Serbia (2009) under the IPA, a possibility of formation a joint team was created, that would be organizationally and professionally qualified to solve the above pro Joint meetings and conferences will contribute to better cooperation of these two regions in order to realize a territorial cohesion, strengthening of competitiveness and stable development of these regions with emphasis on the health of people as the ult Achievements: The project achieved the following results:• Investigated the selenium content in soil and grains (wheat and corn) in Bor and Vidin districts. For the chemical analysis on selenium were used: 200 soil samples (100 soil samples from the Bor District and 100 soil samples from the Vidin district) and 200 grain samples (50 wheat samples from the Bor District and 50 corn samples from the Bor District and 50 wheat samples from the Vidin District and 50 corn samples from the Vidin District). All the samples have been analysed;• Obtained data for the selenium content in soil and grain samples are used for the creating the data base (electronic and hard copy) for the Bor and Vidin region. These data are the part of the Final Study. The full study is available on the project web site;• During the soil sampling, the coordinates of the places where the samples were taken have been determined by GPS and recorded. This data are used for the creating topographic map of the target region (electronic and hard copy). The purpose of the activity was to gain abetter visibility of the sampling place on the printed map, which was split in 9 partial maps of target region. The all maps are presented in Final Study;• The project report on diseases and the most common causes on mortality in target districts is the one more results of this project. This report is done in electronic and hard version on English language;• A project report on available agricultural resources on both sides is also done in electronic and hard version on English language;• A project web site was developed: http://www.ipaselenium.org
