The aim of the project was improvement of foreign languages teaching in our school. In view of the fact that the basis of good teaching is good and well-educated teacher, we focused the project on training techers of English and German, so they get chance not only to improve their language knowledge but also to deepen their methodological skills and be able to use methods of active learning, namely CLIL and use of technology, in their teaching.
In the course of two stages of the project realisation 7 English and 2 German teachers were trained in language and methodology 12day courses in the UK and Germany. In the first stage 4 English teachers focused on teaching using CLIL method in the first and second stage of elementary school and in using techology. They shared their new knowledge and skills with other teachers in a shared platform, they created learning miniprojects and implemented them into their teaching. In the second stage of the project 3 English and 2 German teachers were trained. Because of our experiance from the first stage they focused specifically on using CLIL.
The results of the project fulfilled our expectation. All teachers improved their language kowledge and skills and got a chance to embrace contemporary language and culture of their target language and meet their coleagues from other European countries. The participants of mobilities were motivated to cooperate. Sharing of material, experiences and practical skills improved. They shared their courses experiences and new skills in a GoogleApps environment as well as during meetings. They planned, created and tried 3-5 lessons pilot miniprojects for younger and older students. A testing of them convinced us that we want to continue exploring CLIL not only in language teaching but also in cooperatin with teachers of other subjects.
