Scriptwriting, new technologies, creative documentary Teacher Training Project
Through its present project, the University of Film and Theatre is MOVING FORWARD on the road it began and reinforced in its previous, successfully concluded project. This too is innovation transfer, which concentrates primarily on TEACHER TRAINING. It concentrates on those concrete areas in which the Faculty of Film‘s disadvantages are significant as compared with the educational standards and dimensions of fellow European academies, and in which areas the domestic film and media professions’ requirements also reinforce the developmental plans: scriptwriting, new media and documentary. Of the chosen territories the first two fields have undergone conscious development recently with significant European (Media) support – the intellectual and material resources invested into this project will be further put to use by the insertion of the achievements of the project into Hungarian film and media education. The development of scriptwriting is the key question of the European film industry. In the field of New media, the Faculty of Film is as yet unprepared for the nurturing of artists capable of true creativity in the language of New Media. Simultaneously creating new, productive adult education formats: "NewDocumentary Workshop" the University is attempting to draw the most talented career beginners directly into the QUALITY renovation of the digitalising domestic media world. The documentary film genre has developed at a tremendous pace throughout the world, as a result of the thematic television channels’ hunger for content. Independent documentary film education is currently missing in Hungary. Through the project, innovation between the industry and the profession’s most significant educational institution, with the greatest history, will be transformed and balanced. The project’s international network of partners was developed through the following reasoning: we chose the London Film School and Den Danske Filmskolen as innovation transferring partners because of the exceptional quality of Danish and English film works, owing to their scriptwriting education. The Den Danske Filmskolen, as is characteristic of the Northern countries, is exemplary in the field of new media as well, just like the Lisbon-based Lusofona University University with its numerous Media Projects. We have drawn the educational institutions of the Visegrád countries into our teacher training project as well, with the aim that shared development will harmonise our education systems and deepen our cooperation. They are all strongly artistic, traditional schools, which answer the technological and popular challenges of the day very similarly. The Faculty of Film’s above-mentioned teacher training project, concentrating on undeveloped areas, is the final, necessary step towards the reinforcement of its international contacts and of the professional cooperation of teachers, as well as their communications’ skills, substantiating its distant INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT plans.
