Overall objective of the project is to improve institutional capacity for cooperation between Polish universities and the Ukrainian research institutes and universities from the cross-border areas.Implementation of the project will facilitate the conduct of research by using archival collections. This will allow researchers to strengthen existing contacts and establish new contacts among the participants, among the target groups and final beneficiaries. Exchange of students, their participation in workshops, conferences, seminars and research will contribute to make direct acquaintances which will contribute to the development of future cross-border scientific exchange, and will continue such activities after project completion. Mutual exchange of researchers, students and staff will strengthen border cooperation and significantly contribute to the regional cooperation. This will create lasting relationships between scientific institutions.Through the implementation of the project the capacity for scientific cooperation at local and regional level will be improved. Cooperation improvement will also be visible at the institutional level such as universities and research institutes. In the various activities there is a plan to use the Internet as a main source for exchanging experiences, research and networking among all entities involved. Videoconferences, contacts with experts and posting reports on the Internet are also to be introduced.The project results include: increase of motivation to further professional development by workshop participants thanks to the gained practical skills, improving the qualifications in the field of monitoring and detoxification of harmful substances in the environment and exchange of knowledge and good practice between participants of research trips, increase of knowledge about methods of detoxification of xenobiotics and heavy metals by microorganisms and plants, creation of a website as an internet platform for organising video-conferences, knowledge exchange and good practices and strengthening of the cooperation.
