School on Cloud: connecting education to the Cloud for digital citizenship
Date du début: 1 janv. 2014,

The Cloud is a major technological breakthrough with huge potential for education. It allows students and their tutors/teachers to interact productively in formal and informal education situations. Hosted Cloud communities mean that learners themselves can become creators and developers. Laptops and tablets will be everywhere, eBooks will replace text books as a normal part of classroom learning. Every learner will have access to a device of their own. An integrated system can also have an offline mode. Even remote communities can be connected. Making this happen is an ET 2020 challenge. A KA3 network is needed to explore the new dynamic ways to educate that aligns with the way we think, share, learn and collaborate outside of the classroom, across various education sectors. School on Cloud (SoC) will respond to the dynamic, interactive, multimedia ICT environments that allow resources to be distributed in a range of formats. To achieve this, SoC will: a. undertake research and publish the “state of art”b. examine pedagogical approaches c. produce guidance resources for teachers and teacher educators d. establish four working groups themes on management (transition), iTeacher/Trainer, personalised learning and Cloud-based digital futurese. create a School on Cloud Web site with services offering access to materials, an online community, training opportunities and SoC products, research reports, resources etc.f. disseminate School on Cloud and widen the community via the extended networks of partnersThe SoC network will have considerable impact through its four working groups: guidance and advice for transition to the Cloud will be created; the important role of iTeachers (innovative teachers) as major change agents in shaping the future of learning highlighted; learner-oriented (personalised and collective) approaches explored through integrating the Cloud activities and future dimensions envisioned as the Cloud empowers innovation and connects citizens.
