School factory of initiatives - equal citizenship
Date de fin: 23 août 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Gender role stereotypes influence the ways in which men and women are perceived and spoken about. Though often socially approved, they may discriminate representatives of both genders, restrict their personal development or hamper their civic cooperation for the common good. The project aimed to deepen the knowledge of various aspects of the phenomenon, both in schools and in local communities. It was supposed to bring the attention of students and teachers, and also of local communities, to the issue of human rights, especially in respect of gender equality, and raise the level of students’ participation in civic activity in their local environments, and thus, to make our schools places conductive to education in action, through experience, focusing on social integration. We tried to achieve this objective by strengthening leadership and teamwork skills in students involved in the project, conducting an information campaign in our schools and local communities to raise awareness of various aspects of the impact of socially imposed gender role stereotypes on individual development of children and youth, bringing the attention of the recipients of media offer creating clear images of femininity and masculinity to the need for mainstreaming gender perspectives in its analysis, engaging students in the promotion of international project 16 Days of Action against Gender-Based Violence, organising an art and photo contest whose theme is to raise awareness of the relationship between social norms and adopted gender roles, and pressure of the norms on widely implemented standards of femininity and masculinity, and also conducting anti-gender-based-discrimination training carried out by the participants of the project in lower secondary schools in our localities.
