The main idea. Our Informatics science association possesses a lot of old computer and technology equipment used for demonstration and educational purposes. The association organized a conference about this kind of hardware two years ago where academics and association members had speeches about the history of computational technology from the ancient era of abacus since nowadays. At that conference an idea arrived about establishing an informatics history museum where all these hardware will be exposed and become the center of enriched learning activities. Since then, a lot of hardware, books and software has been collected and now we have arrived at the point we are ready to setup the museum and its learning activities. That’s where the Erasmus+ program can help us. It will be beneficial for us to visit such museums already working abroad and learn how they set up and operate, especially with their educational aspects.By doing some research we found out that a similar museum operates at the PolytechnicSchool, Engineering Department of Valencia in Spain, so we contacted them and they agreed to facilitate an educational training for us on the subject of the museum. During the investigation we made on how these museums work, we came up to digitals museums and we thought that it will be a very good idea to create e-learning objects of the learning activities we plan to create, and present them via the web site of our museum. Such kind of electronic museum for science and technology is held by the organization “Inventing Europe”, in Nederland, concentrating activities from museums all around Europe. They also have accepted to facilitate a training seminar for us on how to design and create web platforms for hosting educational activities. Objectives:To acquire the necessary knowledge for creating the museum in both physical and digital form.To get trained in order to be able to operate the museum for demonstration and education reasons. To research new scientific sectors of computer science such as e-museums and design – implementation of e-learning activities. To understand what visitor will expect from visiting such a museum so that we can focus on that.To interact with scientists working abroad and have great experience at these matters. To cooperate as an association with European educational organizations and museum institutes. To communicate with other cultures and understand how they perform education on IT sector at the secondary education.Number and profile of traineesThere will be 19 trainees and 1 more accompanying person for a trainee member with disabilities. All these, are members of our association and will attend both training activities. All the trainees are civil servants, they work as Information Technology teachers in primary and secondary public schools at Chios/ Greece. They all share good skills in communication and they are well aware of the English language, the language used at the seminars. All members are willing to spread the acquired knowledge and to share their experience on the Erasmus+ program with the teacher and student community. They are all also willing to help in creating of the museum.Activities descriptionParticipation in educational seminars and visits in museums and institutes related with the program’s aims.Visits cultural sites in order to know culture of the countries we visit. Presentation of the program and its results.Program methodologyThere will be preparatory activities before visiting the foreign organizations where we will get trained. These activities will include seeking information about local educational system and local culture. Info will be shared and discussed among the member of our association in preparation for the seminars. E-mail exchange and skype video conferences will be used as means of communication. During the educational visits we will attend seminars organized by scientists’ specialized on the specific fields and we will visit museums related to our educational scope. After each visit we will organize local events where we will present what we have seen and learned in order to share our experience and spread the acquired knowledge to the local society. Newspaper, press and web pages will be also used for the same purpose. The association’s members will acquire the European mobility pass.We will also evaluate not only the training organizations but ourselves as well.Expected results, long term benefits.Acquired knowledge will help trainees to improve their education skills, to create learning activities for the museum and to achieve communication and cooperation skills. We expect we will be able to create the museum both in physical and digital form to be a place of knowledge and learning at our small island for the benefit of the local society and the visitors. The e-museum will allow us to present our learning activities internationally and will increase our international status.
