The aims of the project are for the pupils in the partnership schools to gain a greater awareness and a mutual understanding of the environmental/ecological issues. The subjects to be addressed by the project concern the environmental/ecological goals for recycling, water, forest, energy and health/life style. The approach will be to form an environmental committee at each partner school composed of one pupil from each class in the school and at least two teachers to support them. The committee’s task is to raise awareness about environmental/ecological issues, suggest activities and projects, solutions to solve environmental/ecological problems at the school etc. The committees will work both locally and jointly with various themes and make excursions and study visits both locally and jointly. To further emphasize these important issues and to bring in the society’s perspective into the education system support will be provided by the cities Environment and Public Health Offices. The environmental/ecological issues are global. It is of utmost importance that pupils at a young age have the opportunity to meet pupils from other countries to discuss, learn, exchange experiences and ideas about environmental/ecological issues.
