Context: Ally high school students are faced with the decision of what to do after graduation. The social pressure, the fear of unknown and the routine are factors that influence severely the decisions about future of any young person. In Romania, there is a discrepancy between the theoretical training of the youths and the career they follow. In July 20014, in Romania, there were 77.008 unemployed youths under 25 years old. The novelty aspect of our project is that the it confers legitimacy to a youth policy by involving its beneficiaries (youths) in the drafting process. This policy will promote extracurricular activities in high schools that will foster hands on experience. In a nonformal framework we will provide our participants the chance to understand, develop and acquire positive abilities, aptitudes and behaviours with regards to the active involvement in society and the development of youth policies. Goal: We aim to organize a national youth meeting (13-21.04.2015) in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania in order to facilitate a structured dialogue on the topic of encouraging young people to discover by direct involvement of the future possibilities. We aim to draft a youth policy, which will promote the implementation in high schools of a week named “Săptămâna Descoperirii Empirice“ (the week of empirical discovery). During such a week, the high school students will have the chance to visit universities, employers, contributing to the transition form a theoretical process based on input on a practical one that is focused on outputs and on the young people capacity to actively and practically involve in taking an important decision. Objectives: Preparation: empowerment of our participants with the required knowledge for participating in the activities; information of mass media and other stakeholders about our project; solving logistical and administrative aspects; Implementation: realisation of a structured dialogue on the mentioned theme and the development of the policy draft; certification of our participants; Follow-up: involvement of the participants in the dissemination of results process; final evaluation of the project. Name and profile of participants: This seminary will reunite 50 young people, of which 20 facing reduced possibilities (geographical difficulties), manly form the Centre region of Romania, aged between 18 and 19, students of minimum five different high schools (two from rural areas). The 50 youths will be accompanied by 10 members of support staff and 10 decision makers and experts active in the following institutions: University of Bucharest Romanian-American University, Inspectoratul Şcolar Judeţean Harghita, Prefectura Harghita, ANPCDEFP, Octavian Goga şi Vasile Netea high schools, business sector. In the selection of all participants we respect the principles of non-discrimination and we reach for gender balance. Description of activitty: The goal of this seminary is to facilitate a nonformal framework in which the young participants will engage in a structured dialogue aimed to create a youth policy “Săptămâna Descoperirii Empirice” (the week of empirical discovery). This project started at the initiative of 10 students of Octavian Goga high school form Miercurea Ciuc and answers to the need of young people to actively involve in the drafting of youth policies. Our seminar draws attention upon the importance of practical knowledge in making important decisions about future. We aim to create a youth policy, which will provide the necessary framework of facilitating the youths with the chance to get hands on knowledge about universities, labour market and entrepreneurial sector. Methodology: In order to fulfil our activities we make full use of participative nonformal educational methods like: animation of the participants, role play, questionnaire, learning by doing, reflexion sessions; individual learning; active participation in group activities; public speaking. Results and impact: This project will contribute to the personal development of the participants by influencing them to actively involve in the youth policies. Our participants will be actively involved in the dissemination process and will disseminate information about our project and the Erasmus+ programme. We will create a brochure, a web page, a youth policy draft and an academic paper. Our project will have impact on young people and decision makers from decentralised levels (high schools). Long-term results: Our project in its European and international dimension is closely linked with the statistics regarding school drop out and unemployment of young people under 25 years old. By promoting our youth policy draft online, realisation of the academic study and by involving young people in solving the problem we aim to contribute on medium and long term to the decrease of school drop out and youth unemployment levels.
