HEALTH AT HOME, BABY WITH ME Each year more than 600.000 women lose their life due to pregnancy and childbirth complications and 99 % of thesedeaths ocur in developing countries. 40 % of pregnant women encounter health problems during pregnancy, during birth or afterbirth. Life threatening or longterm complications can develop in 15% of pregnancy. According to 2013 data in our province, unfortunately, 240 infants and mothers have lost their lives due to avoidable and uncontrollable resons. (accident-injury, etc.).The WHO stated that the prenatal care should be carried on a regular basis until the end of pregnancy by starting of the first month of pregnancy, thehealth status of themother and baby should be evaluated during pregnancy, health problems should be eliminated for the reduction of maternal and infantmortality. Infact, theresults of Health Department’s ‘National Maternal Mortality Study’ are noted that stimulating factor in 23.6% of maternal deaths is the poor quality of prenatal care.It is known that giving a regular postnatal followups and having a baby in healthy conditions reduce the maternal and infant mortality. National Strategic Action Plan 2005-2015 CS / US for upgrading the level: theprevention of pregnancy-related death&disease is a matter of humanrights and social justice, and every pregnant woman has the right to Access to essential obstetric care has been resolved. If the first level mentioned above is well organized and placed on solid foundations, that means health issues are resolved in the same measure for ourpeople.Healthcare workers in different sectors should have updated information, follow the modern and scientific approach in order to provide prenatal and postnatalcare in the level of developped countries, to reduce maternal and infant mortality, to grow healthy and intelligent generation. The lack of adequate knowledge and awareness about the importance of follow-up, lack of home visits, workload, lack of business planning of ourstaff in our city serving in this field are reflected negativelyon the pregnant women and follow up rate and the quality of the service provided. Therefore the health professionals need to see and evaluate how their works done in other countries, how to solve problems, positive examples used, operations on site training.
