“S.U.N.RI.S.E. Village - Smart Union of NGOs against the RIsk of Social Exclusion” is an exchange programmed to take place in Savigno (Bologna, Italy) from 20th to 31th of October 2014, with 31 boys and girls aged 18-25 from 5 European countries: Italy, Romania, Spain, Latvia and Turkey. SUNRISE aims at increase self-esteem, enterpreneurship and possibilities of social inclusion for youngsters with fewer opportunities, notably unemployed and at risk of social exclusion. The youth exchange will be run like a role-games: the participants will play every day a different character of a holiday village. They will mange real village tasks, like cooking, cleaning, managing and preparing shows, where autonomy, seriousness and precision are required. By adopting this method, they will have the possibility first to grow as people, and second to learn some transversal skills and competences, as well as the respect of the roles, team work and problem solving. In fact, the village tasks will be integrated through round-tables and several other non-formal activities and games, which will especially focus on Erasmus + and social inclusion. By mixing non formal and in formal activities, the participants will be involved actively all the project long, from the preparation phase, to the follow-up. Since the preparation phase, through their group leader, they can actively shape the activities. They especially have to get into group dynamics where everyone will have the same responsibility and tasks without any difference regarding sex and nationality.
The participants will have to deal with both national and other groups, where improving social and communicative skills, in particular English language. They will be able to deal with group dynamics through common objectives, beyond national divisions.
Moreover, everyday one group will manage the “Marketing-Multiproperty” task, getting even some basic notions on how to create and manage a website, which is such an important task in today’s world.
Each activity is related to the priorities established by the Erasmus+, with a glance to long-term outcomes: promotion of active citizenship (especially the European one); tolerance and social cohesion; reciprocal comprehension of diversity, regarding gender, culture, classes, and alike. This objectives will be achieved through the non-formal activities proposed: learning games (to develop “active sensibility”); feedbacks (collective meditation moments developed through role-games and brainstorming); reports; and overall, role-games. The final event will make them put into practice what they will have learnt: they will have to get a draft project on how to exploit structural funds to set up a tourist company, involving local citizenship.
