S'emparer de la langue anglaise de l'école maternelle au CM2
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Seize the English language from the nursery school till the 5th year of primary school MAIN GOALS: Our goals are first of all giving children pleasure for the target language, and at the same time improving A1 tests results (CEFR), precisely in reading and oral comprehension. We would like to encourage playing in English, speaking while playing, and then general speaking and interacting. PARTICIPANTS: This project is built for the whole school, including preschool : 3 classes from preschool with a teacher taking benefit from the mobility program, and another one who already teaches English in the school ; we add 4 teachers from primary : one teacher taking benefit from the mobility program, and another one who already teaches English in the school. ACTIVITIES: In preschool, we will provide activities such as : singing games and dances, nursery rhymes, action games in PE, storytelling by the elder children making recipes written by the elder ones from the school. In primary levels, it’s planned to prepare stories presentation for the preschool children, listening to drama and building short drama pieces to be played in front of the families during assemblies. It’s also planned to write the recipes ready to be made by the preschool children. METHOD AND PLANNING: Just after the mobility program, in November 2015 in preschool, we plan to organize oral sessions to work on the English sounds, with the singing games and dances, simple tongue twisters, action games in PE. We plan also to create a story and built the picture book including new vocabulary. In November 2015 in primary school, we plan to prepare the stories reading, particularly focused on the language accentuation, and intonation. We also plan to prepare games in PE, and simple recipes writing. In December 2015, “An English Christmas” will be organized: it means a big assembly for the children to look at the presentations: stories, songs and dances ; it means also games for the children during the day, eating English food. During the second term of school, A second “English day” will be in preparation: the preschool children will be involved in other singing games and dances, new simple tongue twisters, action games in PE. We plan also to create another story and built the picture book including new vocabulary. The primary children will be involved in the same activities as previously, but with new language structures and new vocabulary, to increase their potential. In June, these learnings will be used during the “English party”, organized for the children and the parents. IMPACT: The preparation of those presentations during nearly all year will help with the children involvement, which is a huge component in learning. Also, the implication and the pleasure during the assemblies in front of the parents and the other children will make the difference during the presentations. We are expecting the A1 tests results to increase by teaching like that. LONG TERM VISION: We would like children and parents to take advantage of this project by exploring more and more the English culture and language and travelling for that purpose. It would be possible also to transfer this exploration to other languages and cultures. We would like to renew this project each year so that children could have pleasure to learn this langage and other ones.
