Rural Youth Attitude For European Development

From the 21st to the 27th of August 2011, 53 young people coming from rural areas of 8 different European countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria) will participate in a multilateral youth exchange hosted by JARC (Portugal). MIJARC Europe will be a sending organisation.This project entitled "Rural Youth Attitude for European Rural Development" aims at bringing together young people living and coming from rural areas in Europe during a 7 days activity that will take place in Ribamar (Lourinhã) under the theme "the importance of an active European Citizenship to achieve a European sustainable rural development".The main objectives of this youth exchange are to give the opportunity to the participants:- to experience intercultural learning by exchanging realities, opinions and values with other rural young people from Europe;- to discuss and recognise different realities of important issues that influence sustainable development in Europe, namely natural resources management, biodiversity loss and climate change;- to cultivate mutual understanding and respect for cultural differences in Europe and show the need of youth cooperation at European level in order to achieve more cohesion within the EU (in general) and contribute for European youth policies (in particular);- to develop creative and critical thinking, active participation and initiative by motivating them to engage in projects developed at all levels (including EVS);- to get to know more about Europe and the important role the youth can play having an active citizenship for the future of rural areas in Europe;Through the method "See, Judge and Act" the participants will engage in activities based in non-formal and informal learning, like icebreakers, working groups, field trips, round table with guests, thematic evenings, discussions/debates, plenary, quizzes, pedagogical games, oral presentations and organisation of conclusions in a booklet and DVD.
