"Rule information, Be powerful"
Date du début: 15 oct. 2014, Date de fin: 14 févr. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

"Rule information, Be powerful" was the Erasmus+ Training Course that took place in Bakuriani (Georgia) on 24 November - 1 December 2014. The activity gathered 30 participants from 6 different EU and EEAC countries, including: Italy, Poland, United Kingdom, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia. Participants represented a diverse group of project beneficiaries, staring from active members of youth NGOs, volunteers and group leaders through to journalists, PR specialists, as well as active young people themselves, displaying the necessary skills and keen interest in the subject matter. CONTEXT: The very project was born out of the partners’ interest in media and PR. We strongly believe that those who know how to find/access information and share it with others, have a powerful tool at their hands. Also, in the context of youth work (just like in business or in any other venture) it is crucial to understand how to use media to the organisation’s own advantage. Unfortunately, as the reality shows, traditional and social media are not being utilised to the fullest when it comes to e.g. promoting project activities, disseminating information or simply attracting new followers. This is because of lack of knowledge, technical skills or simply being afraid of making mistakes. AIM AND OBJECTIVES: With the view to the above, we decided to implement the following training course with the aim to provide an opportunity for those engaged in youth work to improve their knowledge on how to apply PR tools in the organizations and how to use media, especially so called new media and the programme ERASMUS+ in general to develop the quality of their projects and to promote successfully young volunteers as potential employees. This was achieved through successive exploration and work on the project objectives set beforehand: * Strengthening participants’ awareness and understanding of the significant role of Media and PR * Rising the participants’ competences related to the use of Media and PR within the youth organisations * Improve participants’ competences in working successfully with media * Providing space and environment whereby participants can successfully practice their media related competences * Equipping participants in new and useful skills of PR promotion * Assisting participants in better disseminating the results of their own Erasmus+ projects. WORKING METHODS AND ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED: The project was implemented with the use of non-formal education tools. Hence, through the week-long course full of discussions, simulations, engaging in interactive group and pair work activities, study visits, etc. participants had the opportunity to exchange their experiences, gain new knowledge and develop crucial skills relevant to the subject area and indispensable in their future youth activities. IMPACT AND FUTURE STEPS: As indicated in the participants’ final reports and in face-to-face conversations, the course exerted tremendous impact on those attending. Not only did they reach their learning goals related to the subject matter (e.g. learning new tools, improving hard and soft skills, reflecting upon previous usage of media tools and mistakes made, etc.) but also gained a lot on personal level. Here, the most commonly mentioned impact related to: new friendships being established, improved language skills and communication in general, greater confidence and trust in one’s own skills, etc. Also, some important project ideas were developed in the course of training. We hope that with our support and joint commitment from those engaged, the ideas will soon be turned into new Erasmus+ initiatives.
