This project will be developed by 4 programme countries (Portugal, Spain, Latvia and Slovenia) and will take place in Amarante (Portugal) during 9 days, from 09/08/2014 till 17/08/2014. It will gather in a balanced way (gender and countries) 24 participants (6 per country), aged between 16-20, and 4 youth leaders from Programme Countries. It ill also have a Advanced Planning Visit with all youth leaders from 1st till 4th august 2014 in Amarante. The main objectives are: raise awareness on European values; promoting European participation and citizenship through sports and outdoor activities; develop the spirit of cooperation and competition among young people; encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles by young people and the community in general. Main activities and methods: during this youth exchange the participants will take part in several activities of Non Formal Education and connected to grass root sports and outdoor activities (mainly the ones that includes ropes – the rope will be the symbol of this project, showing the link between people from different cultures that belong to the same European family). We will create an interesting and competitive environment to pass the values of Europe and to bring young people together, sharing and knowing each other better. Results and impact: we expect this activity to create a new attitude of young people towards difference, improve their capacity to participate in decision-making processes that affect them and empower them in order to face the challenges and take advantages of the opportunities. The impact that this project seeks to create both in the participants and in the local community is great for the theme of healthy lifestyles and the preservation of traditions as well as the methods used (NFE activities, street actions, traditional games and outdoor sports, etc.) that allows a great interaction within the group of participants and the community. This approach encourages youngsters to be more innovative/creative, thus transforming their way of thinking and perceiving reality, passing it to the community.
