Romano drom 2016 : Otevírání prostoru pro přátelské setkávání Romů a Neromů
Date du début: 1 mai 2016, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project "Romano Drom 2016 - Opening space for friendly encounters between Roma and non-Roma people" builds on the previous two years of summer school Romano Drom (2014 and 2015), both of which were successfully held in the eastern Slovakia. The summer schools in 2014 and 2015 supported dozens of Czech and Slovak Roma in their development. This year's event will capitalize on the applicant's experience in organizing summer schools. This year Romano Drom will be organized in northern Bohemia in cooperation with the cities of Decin, Rumburk and Varnsdorf. The project includes a 14-day youth exchange in Jedlova (District Děčín). There will be 60 participants - young Roma aged 13-30 from Slovakia and Czech Republic (mostly from socially excluded areas). During the exchange there will be sports and physical activities, arts (singing and dancing) workshops and other activities aimed at developing soft skills and other skills of the Roma. In addition to the 60 participants (Roma) the project will by joined by 60 visitors (non-Roma) who will engage in artistic activities. The project will take place in cooperation with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, who will attend the two days of project activities. In the end of the project there will be three artistic events (concerts) in three towns in North Bohemia (Rumburk, Varnsdorf, Decin). The participants of the Exchange will perform together with the Czech Philharmony and with 60 guests (non-Roma locals). The project aims to encourage young Roma from Slovakia and the Czech Republic in their development, especially in the field of artistic skills (singing and dancing) and in the development of their own (Roma) identity. During the Exchange there will also be activities aimed at developing media skills, critical thinking, legal minimums, English language, motor skills (yoga, Capoeira and others) and leadership. In addition to the above mentioned activities an important part of the project is to motivate young Roma participants to further development through public appearances and through encounters with successful artists (Roma and non-Roma). In addition to increasing the competencies of the participants, the project also aims to fight prejudice, discrimination and racism at a local (Ústí region) and national (Czech Republic and Slovakia) level. Through media coverage of the project and through the dissemination of its outcomes we expect a positive impact on the Roma and non-Roma community and Roma organizations and organizations working with youth. Both partner organizations among the leading organizations working with the Roma community and their involvement in the proposed project will enable them to further develop methods of work. The outputs will be published and disseminated through all available channels - we expect long-term positive benefits of working with the Roma target group, especially in linking artistic and educational activities.
