Rock the Mountains

Rock the Mountains will unite 25 participants from Spain, Italy, Belgium, Finland and Bulgaria with different cultures and educational backgrounds, through music, creating a space of intercultural enrichment in Orgaña, in catalan Pyrenees, in march 2016. The aim of the project Rock the Mountains is to give an opportunity for young people in their personal growth, sharing their talents and cultures with other participants of the project and a local community, which will take an active part in all the activities. The exchange will create space for communication and co-habitation in the hostel, which will allow participants to learn about different musical styles and traditions, getting to know more about themselves and other cultures through music. The project will consist of workshops on creativity, theatre, work on self-development and the process of learning through music, cultural presentations and rehearsals, which will be aimed to organize and implement a concert in Alt Urgell, where the abilities of participants and the achivements of the project will be demonstrated. International cooperation will also be promoted, in order to establish strong collaboration for possible future projects. The method of learning during activities will be based on non-formal education and will involve the participants in decision-making process relevant to the programme before and after the project. Notwithstanding the fact, that the language of activities and workshops will be English, this will not be an obstacle for participation of youngsters, who might not have a high level enough, but special attention will be given to their integration; the language of the exchange will be music. Participation in this cultural exchange means taking part in the development of art as an educational entity for personal preparation of youth for the world that surrounds them. This project draws a possibility of developing one's creativity and artistic and musical skills, baring in mind team work, personal and collective respect for each other and different cultures and visions on the world. Rock the Mountains will plant a seed, so that its participants are able to enrich European community, keeping in mind all its diversity.
