Rising History Awareness with Nonformal Methods and Outdoor Activities

Our project is coordinated for the purpose of rising history awareness in youths, rising intercultural dialogue among youths and youth workers, emphasizing learning with outdoor activities, knowing other cultures, developing youth workers active participation and skills. Before the activities began, all our partners informed with our official mail. All information our partners asked was sent for preparation and all participants were chosen by partners group leader according their suitability for this project .Activities were held on 28 November 2015-5 December 2015 by the choose of all of our partners and us. Activities began with the opening cocktail of the project on 28 November, in the cocktail all needed information were given to participants about activities and methods. Firstly to getting know each other nonformel games were played by participants and then participants talked about their expectations and fears also participants defined rules with community contract. To raise the awareness of the history museums in Kayseri and Nevsehir(Cappadoccia) were visited and participants were given info about the past of Anatolia and visited places, museums. Additionally all partners organized their own cultural night. All participants were given training about history awareness context and related research on it. Besides Erasmus+ program was introduced for participants. On the other side a magazine for history awareness was prepared by participant with their knowledge of the outdoor activities. With focus group meeting all participants asked to think on history awareness and they found ideas on it. The dialog in the participants were supported the vision of the participants European Union Citizenship. In the end all participants meant their satisfaction about the project and were amazed by a project which coordinated by a Police Department and they appreciated this. It is thought that coordinating this kind of a project in the long term can be helpful to reduce the prejudice of youths and can develop intercultural dialogue among them.
