Reykjavík Peace Þing Camp
Date du début: 1 août 2012,

The Icelandic Scouts and Guides celebrate their 100 year anniversary this year. Multiple events are planned in order to celebrate a century of Scouting in Iceland, amongst them the interNational Jamboree at Lake Ulfljotsvatn, the Scouting World at Reykjavik Culture Night in addition the Reykjavík Peace Þing and Reykjavík Peace Camp. The goal of the Peace Þing is to encourage individuals to participate actively in creating peace. We want to show actively how the Scout Method can be used to develop and sustain peace.Prior to the Peace Þing weekend we will invite patrols from Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany, Latvia and Denmark to praticipate in a week long Peace Camp. The aim of the Peace Camp is to bring together Scouts from different cultural settings and backgrounds, where the participants will be able to share their thoughts around peace and work together to create a better world. The desired outcome is that the 60 participants will create new peace projects, that can be used in their own and other Scouting Associations and Organizations around the world and that the participants have gotten a better understanding of cultural differences, what peace means and have actively worked on a hands-on peace project with measurable results. The week will consist of various activities, such as an exploration of the topic of peace, self development and reflection, Icelandic In-depth excursion and Peace Game design. During the Peace Þing, which will be held in conference hall Harpa, a landmark icon in Reykjavik, the participants will play an active role, as peace game facilitators, panel members, and one will be chosen to give a keynote speech during the opening ceremony. We expect the Peace Camp to have a long lasting effect on each and every participant, in addition to contributing vastly to the mosaic of international peace projects that take place around the world.
