Revontuli-Opisto − Northern Experts Revontuli-Opisto is an adult education centre located in Kittilä, Northern Finland. It organises adult education in three municipalities: Kittilä, Enontekiö and Sodankylä. The main objectives of the project Revontuli-Opisto − Northern experts are to promote internationalization, to develop the quality of teaching and learning, to develop organizational culture and languague skills in Revontuli-Opisto. Through the project an international network with other adult education centers will be built and at the same time the know-how of possibilities of internationalization and the awareness of European possibilities will increase both in Revontuli-Opisto and wider in the region (municipalities, associations and students). Seven staff training sessions are the main activities of the project. Nine members of the staff will participate: seven teachers and two members of the administrative staff. The teaching staff participates in staff training; two teachers will participate in job shadowing and 5 teachers in courses of their own field of expertise. Two members of the staff will become familiar with the adult educational activities and organizations in a foreign country (job shadowing). Revontuli-Opisto is in charge of the implementation, practical arrangements and reporting of the project. The project participants are actively involved in the implementation of the project before the actual training sessions and participants are instructed before the actual training (joint briefing sessions, reporting instructions, information practices). The communication plan for the project is made (including media communication, social media communication etc.). The project increases participants' international expertise and professionalism, the quality of teaching and the selection of courses are growing and the organizational culture develops. Locally, the project also highlights the opportunities of internationalization, and thus benefits the whole community. Nationally, the project can serve as an example of international activities for other adult education centres. In the future Revontuli-Opisto will receive adult education staff from other countries and also arranges international courses and training.
