This training course is a great example of the cross-sectoral cooperation between formal and non-formal education in order to increase the learning opportunities of young people so that they are not only happy and balanced personalities, but also have the necessary competences to be included in the labour market and also are motivated and able to act as active members of society. So, the aim of this project is to bring together teachers that are open to widen their horizon with using more non-formal learning in their work with students in order in to share experiences and develop competencies on using GAMES in non-formal settings not only as an element of fun, but as an effective non-formal learning opportunity for youth.
The project consists of one activity – a training course “Restart the Game!”. It will take place in Parnu, Estonia, 6-14 August 2015.
The partnership consists of 9 countries involving organizations from EU and 3 different Partner regions - Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, Russian Federation, Belgium, Turkey, Jordan, Georgia and Morocco. Each of the partners delegating 2-3-4 participants – teachers and people that work with young people in the school environment not only in formal settings, but also non-formal and/or informal frameworks: social workers, extra-curricular activity providers, school council coordinators, school staff, class teachers, etc. We focus on this target group because from our experience we know that they already do youth work, but they are usually not aware about it and lack the competences on promoting youngsters learning on a deeper level. In this sense, the non-formal sector has much more experience which could be applied also in schools.
With this project we would like to promote cooperation between different sectors, countries and regions in Europe and increase the quality of youth work - support and learning opportunities for young people. This will be done by applying NFL methods with special emphasis on GAMES as a learning tool. By being learners and training the skills of facilitating the learning for groups the participants will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to consciously apply games as a method in their daily work with young people in the non-formal settings.
As a follow-up of the project the participants will implement series of activities with their colleagues and local youngsters. From our side we will also prepare a report from this project to share the results with wider target groups.
The long-term effects will be a new generation of citizens, engaged and empowered in their communities, better understanding between cultures and also future projects among the partner organizations in different educational fields.
