RESNAFRONT - L'USAGE DE RESSOURCES NATURELLES TRANSFRONTALIÈRES COMME POTENTIEL DE DÉVELOPPEMENT (RESNAFRONT)
Date du début: 30 nov. 2004, Date de fin: 29 mai 2007 PROJET  TERMINÉ

RESNAFRONT was created out of the need to deal with the problems of border territories (maintaining agriculture and forestry, excessive use of natural resources, decreasing population, poor dissemination of tourism potential and insufficient development of business and roads) by means of joint actions to promote the resources of border areas while introducing parameters for environmental and territorial sustainability. The partners in the project are border regions with differing degrees of development and natural resources of acknowledged value. Our objective is to transform characteristics that in themselves seem to be a disadvantage into factors for development of areas of action and for the regions as a whole. Overall objective / Objectif général The general aim of this project is to achieve social and economic development of the areas sharing cross-border natural resources in which development can be improved by drawing up common strategies. The project aims to take advantage of the experience obtained from the Regional Development Programmes in the partner regions, all of which are Objectives 1 and 2. Expected results / Résultats attendus • Increased knowledge of shortcomings and potential of the territories involved by carrying out SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) for each of the territories covered by the project. • Drafting of a Joint Development Strategy for application to territories having similar characteristics. • Sharing experiences in joint management of shared natural resources, especially in environment, land planning, rural development and agricultural industries, socio-economic development and tourism. • Improved quality of life in the areas involved. • Protection of the environment and of biodiversity. • Increased cooperation amongst European Union regions.
