RESEARCHERS ON THE BOUNDARY (ReBound)
Date du début: 1 mai 2011, Date de fin: 30 nov. 2011 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Researchers’ Night we propose is transnational, strongly focused on attracting young people to scientific and technological disciplines and aimed at presenting researchers as people, engaged in activities having a strong impact on society and daily life. The concept of BOUNDARY we address is not only geographical, but it is also related to the communication barriers between different populations and scientific communities, people from different backgrounds and ages, as well as between the research environment and the society at large. To overcome these boundaries, we will apply conventional effective models as well as figurative and digital arts, implemented in innovative ways. The key-concepts of our proposal are summarized as follows.TRANSNATIONAL: 2 parallel events will take place in Nova Gorica(SLO)/Gorizia (IT) and Udine (IT). By proposing a transnational event we want to highlight the role of the international spirit of science as a new language, able to overcome cultural and political differences.FOCUSED ON ATTRACTING YOUNG PEOPLE TO SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DISCIPLINES: we will promote the presence of scientific research institutions in our borderland, peripheral though strategic territory, as a new valuable professional choice.PRESENTING RESEARCHERS AS PEOPLE: the Researchers’ Night will provide researchers with the opportunity to meet people in a number of informal, ‘relaxed’ activities, telling about their private lives, thus enhancing researchers’ integration in the social fabric.Besides 3 main target groups identified within the category of ‘public at large’ (i.e. very young people, young people and adults), a further crucial, transversal, target group is given by females, whose talent in research, and particularly in scientific and technological research, is still largely underexploited. Gender aspect will be taken in account throughout the project implementation, in order to be particularly effective when addressing the female public.
