On 21-25 March 2016, EUROCLIO, in close partnership with the colleagues in Northern Ireland, was hosting the 23rd Annual Professional Training and Development Course on the topic "Remembering the Difficult Past through History and Heritage Education". Participants attending the conference had the opportunity to engage with the on-going debate within civil society as to how best these events might be handled, to experience educational initiatives to help young people better understand the Decade's historical and contemporary importance and to reflect on how similar events are remembered in their own countries . It was a plan to offer a workshop in close cooperation with the EUROCLIO conference organizers. Since last autumn I was working in the international project "Silencing Citizens Through Censorship.Learning from Europe’s 20th-Century Dictatorial & Totalitarian Past". So it is was possible not only offer a binatioal workshop with another conference participant, but even a multinational workshop. The project is organized by Eurocloo - European Association of History Educators and funded the "Europe for Citizen" Programm. For the Liebigschool Frankfurt as official recognized European School it is very important to enlarge and intensify their international cooperation. As examples are mentioned: a) the Learning Departmen of European History in Brussel. The House of European History will be opend upcoming November. The project planing of European projects at the Liebigschool is planning a visit in the schoolterm 206/17 with students; b) a school from Ireland (Gerad Moore, Glenties Comprehensice School) is searching a project partner for a binational irish-german history project on World War I and its remembrance; at the moment it will be explored how such a project can realized. The conference topic was a very important one for the Liebigschool as a European school. The next pedagogic confence day in July at the school will deal with the further development of the European Curriculum.
