The proposal aims to support the statutory activities of the association “Centro di Diritto Penale Europeo” (hereinafter, the “Centro”), which, since its foundation in 1997, have been devoted to the dissemination of knowledge about the impact of EU law on National criminal law and the progressive establishment of a EU criminal law, together with the facilitation of the exchange of professional experiences. The need for high level educational activities, together with continuous professional training on these issues is increasingly perceived following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, which opens up interesting perspectives and creates new and insightful dynamics in the process of EU integration in criminal matters. The current situation requires a continuous, in-depth reflection from scholars and legal practitioners, who have to deal almost daily withissues arising from the recognition of a criminal competence to the EU. In this scenario, the “Centro” aims to become a reference point for the continuous legal training and the dissemination of leading researches on issues concerning the EU action in criminal matters, essentially through three ways. 1) a yearly call for papers on a selected topic, opened to the public, and published then in the Series of “Pubblicazioni del Centro di Diritto Penale Europeo” (established since 1997 and edited by Giuffrè, Milano, now counting 12 books; 2) the organisation of three seminars/workshops per year on specific issues related to the general topic selected as the subject of the call for papers, essentially tailored for practitioners but also opened to law students,young researchers and other legal professionals. These seminars will be asked to be recognized by the local Bar association as part of the continuous legal training of barristers; 3)the continuous improvement and feeding of the website of the Centro, especially in its more inter-active part.
