Foundation „For Young “seeks to strengthen non-governmental youth organizations at local level and regional youth councils for that trying to carry out a project called „Strengthening Regional youth policy for civic evolvement“. The project aims to ensure structural dialogue between representatives of non-governmental youth organizations and various regional and local institutions, councils of youth affairs in municipalities, politicians and other decision makers. This project seeks to create an opportunity for youth organizations to develop skills to collect and analyze the opinion of young people, represent interests of young people, inquire the process of structured dialogue at local level and pursue positive decisions for youth. During the time of the project regional youth councils and youth NGOs at local level will participate in various trainings related to representation of interests, youth policy, structural dialogue and strategic planning. Participants will create and try to apply methodology on how to implement direct consultations with young people regarding the most relevant issues. Participants of the project by themselves will organize meetings between young people and local government officials- decision makers and will present solutions to improve youth situation in the area. The most active participant will be invited together with decision-makers to create methodology and find out how to implement direct youth consultations. Participants will organize such consultations and meetings with local politics and present proposals to improve youth situation at municipality. In five regional centers (Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Utena) will be organized info-events where members of Municipal Councils, Councils of Youth Affairs, the Coordinators of Youth Affairs, youth workers and other relevant stakeholders will be invited. During these events will be presented achieved results and a publication with methods for implementing consultations with youth which will be created during the time of the project. This is a project which will provide new competences, knowledge and practical skills regarding representation of youth interests, youth policy, institutional structures within municipalities and cooperation with decision makers. Will be created the quality system of regional youth councils’ activities, thus organizations will have a tool to evaluate their results and improve activities. Besides, new regional youth councils just starting their activities also will be able to benefit from it. A methodology for implementing consultations with young people will be created as well. It will help to enable young people to become more involved into decision-making processes at local and national levels. The project will give a platform to share good practices among a great number of youth NGOs, decision-makers and youth workers. All activities will be implemented at municipalities where youth policy is just at its early age and youth policy implementation structures are still either just in a process of creation or development. The project by itself will evoke the feeling for young people that they are the citizens of their municipality, Lithuania and the whole Europe.
