PROJET
TERMINÉ
As Europeans living in the Indian Ocean, the youth from Reunion Island, members of association Tank, want to organize a youth exchange bilaterally with a Spanish group CASA de la cultura of City Montserrat Valencia. Planned for the period of January 2015, this action aims to stimulate their citizenship in particular in respect of Europe, but it also aims at getting our Spanish partner to discover our heritage, our department, our lifestyle, our traditions, customs, myths. This exchange placed under the sign of sharing both sides aims at gathering us under a single European identity while taking into account our origins, our characteristics, our differences. Also this exchange made in an outermost region of Europe, will seek to expand the knowledge of our partner on our model of multicultural society, our values, our way of life both European, but also very influenced by various cultures: Indian African, Chinese ...
We hope to provide a real view of our model of society sometimes at odds with the realities of other regions of Europe. In this way, we expect to contribute to a change of mentalities for more tolerance, but also prepare our youth for these contingencies.
Then the youth exchange in Reunion aims at supporting our young people become aware of the role and place of youth in the issues of the European Union. By participating in all stages of the project, they can get involved, take responsibility and have a better understanding of its priority issues. The skills they will develop will be certified through the Youth Pass which will allow them to showcase their know how, life skills and citizenship.
Moreover, our project "The better we know our cultures and traditions" aims at emphasizing our ties with the European continent, but also our desire to get involved in it.
As for the progress of the action, it will take place in Reunion Island from the 6th to the 14th of January 2015. All in all, 32 people will be involved, including the supervisors of both groups.
So there will be a group of 28 young people, constituted with 14 young people from Reunion Island and 14 Spanish.
They all participate in the upstream project preparation phases with their respective supervisors. These preparation time will be implemented to enable them to get acquainted quickly and discuss about selected topics in funny and educational atmosphere. For instance, the young from Reunion Island could get the Spanish group discover their neighborhood, the local environment before their arrival, resorting to modern means of communication. This is aimed at contributing to the projection and help the Spanish group to be better prepared to the travel and enjoy their stay.
During the stay, we’ve planned to establish discussion sequences between the young, with or without leaders, to allow them to step back, to express and share their feelings. These moments will facilitate the evaluation of the project. Time for discussion and evaluation will be established. Finally, free time will be organized to enable young people to have some time for themselves and each other.
After the stay, we plan to do a collective and individual assessment with the group to the month in September 2014 in order to better identify the impact and lessons learned in the group and, for some, from their families.
