The Project “REFUGEES”- THE INVISIBLE VICTIMS!” is a youth Exchange to be held in Sicilia, Italy, between 22 and 27th September 2016 with in the frame regarding the nomination of Lampedusa as candidate to the "PEACE NOBEL PRICE". The Italian island of LAMPEDUSA is one of the entering gates to Europe for African and Middle Eastern refugees and immigrants who risk their own lives to cross the Mediterranean Sea in search for a better live and improve their basic conditions and protection. In this project the following countries will participate: Egypt, Jordania, Italy, Portugal, Macedonia, Croatia, Turkey and Spain. A total of 32 participants aged between 18 and 30, 8 group leaders without age limit and, two trainers, as well facilitators.During the carrying out of the activities, we would have the opportunity to see and check ourselves the initiatives and programs that the Sicilian Regional Government is implementing in response to the actual humanitarian emergency whose main cause is the massive arrival of refugees and immigrants. Their efforts are based on the directives and principles set out by the European Union not just as a mere necessary process, but also as a starting point in looking for sustainable solutions. The daily program would consist of workshops, field visits, etc. We will be aiming at fostering a spirit of solidarity among European young people as to the real issue with immigrants and refugees allowing these last ones to be integrated into society. We will also provide young participants with tools and strategies to implement non-discriminative initiatives and programs whenever necessary. We believe it that synergies should be envisaged to work at the local, national and international levels in order to understand better the situation and see how we could look for solutions leveraging friendship and integration values as a collective. The European Government have to collaborate in supporting social cohesion, co-operation, active participation and tolerance among those who are faced with difficulties, as well as among the nationals taking into account the Human Rights as a key pillar. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:-To inform and raise awareness among European young people aged between 18 and 30 years on the current refugee crisis resulting from the massive arrival of citizens looking for asylum and a better future. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:-To Promote networks and communication strategies in order to enhance the visibility of the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program. -To Provide the participants with tools and strategies enabling them to share experiences and good practices and create a network of co-operation practices between the different participant countries.-To raise awareness among political leaders responsible for the immigration policies requiring them to implement anti-discriminative programs and initiatives. In order to attain the abovementioned objectives we would maximize the active participation of the youngsters and the partner organizations at every stage of the project through participatory methods, non-formal learning techniques, round tables, debates, videos, field visits, etc. As a result, we expect that all the participants and their organizations acquire common strategies of action when facing the current humanitarian crisis. We expect the outcomes and the learning experience to be shared with other youth organizations in their different home countries as good practices. In the long term, we would like the results and benefits of this project to serve as a contribution to create a more integrated society where human relations are based on solidarity and intercultural acceptance. The fight to socially include refugees and immigrants and avoid their marginalization.
