„Refugee life: a story behind“ is a multicultural exchange for 32 young people aged 18-30 yrs and coming from 6 countries (Czech Republic, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Hungary and Bulgaria). With this project we are aiming to adress the need of understanding differences and unique situations of people in their complicated time of life, particularly refugees. We want to deal with hateful reactions of some of our co-workers, friends, neighbours, family members which are coming from non acceptance of society towards the unknown represented by refugees. We want to face their fear with our common experience of togetherness and to bring it out for all those who are scared to come closer to different cultures and to get to know real people behind the media panic. The exchange will take place in Brno area, Czech Republic within the dates 16-23 October 2016.It is for people wanting to bring change to social environment they live in and to make an impact on social dialogue by becoming creative in their own actions. During this event, participants will also clear out their core qualities and gain the ability to use them in order to achieve the changes they want to see around them in their environment. They will receive means and tools to develop their qualities and experience self – esteem and self trust as well as respect and support for every other participant, so that all of them can be aware of own uniqueness while creating something together. Objectives we want to achieve: - To develop skills at the level of promoting diversity of cultures and living together in peace- To make a first step towards another person with a different cultural background- To exchange different approaches on how to combat intolerance and build bridges for society members- To exchange knowledge on how to cooperate in differences and see yourself as a possibility- To support young people in finding solutions for the issues they see around them by discovering the potential they have in bringing the change- To exchange attitudes from the different European and Neighboring countries towards the refugee situation in Europe and nearby- To use the multi-cultural group of participants as a learning space on individual roles and competencies in relation to the topic of the projectThe program consists of 2 days of self-development and team building activities, a day of preparation of volunteering events, 3 days volunteering in a refugee facilty, a day of inclusive outdoor activities and a day of planning a follow up for back home.
