Reconstruction of a cultural heritage object. Centre of Cross-border Co-operation in Elblag

The general objective of the project is the promotion of cross-border co-operation by means of developing tourist infrastructure. The project is an element of a complex program of reconstruction - retroversion of the Old Town and the neighbouring area of the Granary Island.Direct objectives of the project include: - Reconstruction of a cultural heritage object in order to create conditions for the development of water sports and tourism and raising attractiveness of the area of Granary Island for the investors. Reconstruction of the building constitutes a fragment of a greater revitalisation program for the island, planned as an area for tourism-related investments. Presently works are being carried out aiming at cleaning the moat. This in the future should allow to use the island´s natural qualities for the recreation, especially with regards to water sports. -Strengthening and developing cross-border co-operation between the youth of Elblag, Kaliningrad and other Baltic Sea towns; - Creating conditions for the development of co-operation between institutions working in the field of culture and tourism in the Baltic states - providing conditions for setting up a base which would integrate the sailors´ communities,- Developing cross-border co-operation between Elblag, Kaliningrad, Baltijsk and other Baltic Sea towns by means of organising international events and cyclical meetings connected with Baltic culture and rendering services to tourists who do water sports (informational and promotional activities, international maritime art exhibitions, sailing camps and sailors´ song festivals and other common projects), etc.
