Cyprus Youth Council in the framework of the actions for the recognition of Youth Worker (people dealing with young people and working with them through Non-Formal Education) carrying out the program “Recognition of YOUTH WORKer. The primary purpose of the program is the direct coexistence and exchange of views with the policy makers, involved in Youth and Education topics at National level. The idea of the program came out from the Trio Presidency of the EU Council (Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg), which focused in the empowerment of young people (Youth Empowerment). In the context of the Luxembourg Youth Meeting, young people and the policy makers for youth had as subtopic the recognition of Youth Worker as a tool to empower young people and acquisition of Non-Formal Education skills. Through the workshops held by the Pool of Trainers of CYC, the participants will have the opportunity to come into contact with the process of the Structured Dialogue and consider the results of the Trio Presidency of the EU Council (Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg). Knowing the importance of the recognition of Youth Worker the topic was extensively discussed under the Luxembourg Presidency. The program aims to empower young people by bringing them together with the policy makers to discuss together, through the process of structured dialogue, increasing their political participation.During the workshops all the actions were politically will be presented by the Expert Committee of CYC which established to work on the recognition of Youth Worker. They will also analyze the best practices implemented in other European countries making the institution of Youth Worker recognizable while understanding the significance of its role in the development of Non-Formal Education skills. The participants will gain knowledge about the process of Structured Dialogue and the related issues (recognition of Non-Formal Education and Youth Worker) in National and Local policies. Also through consultation, Non-Formal Education and socializing with people with different cultural background, the young people will strengthen the "social" skills (sociability, eloquence and properly argumentation). Beyond that, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about different aspects of Non-Formal Education offered both locally and at European and International level, to exchange views of Youth Worker. Also, young people will have the opportunity to discuss how Non-Formal Education helps them in their personal development and self-awareness. Additionally, it encourages the active citizenship: how their participation in activities linked to the youth in the wider society, how to initially operate at local level and subsequently in a wider context and how to act on the basis of democratic principles.
